Tomahawk Nation!

Happy Sunday! What a beautiful weekend...so happy that Fall is finally here!

Speaking of Fall, what are YOU doing Friday night? I hope that you are planning to come out for our first annual Fall Festival! Much like our Spring Showcase, we know that this is going to be a great night for families to come out for dinner and check out a few exciting performances. Our kindergartners are performing, our second graders have their fall concert, and our third graders will be showing off their shag dancing skills! There is a scarecrow contest and hayrides at the big field from 3:30 - 5:30, book fair in the media center, and there will be artwork on display in the cafeteria. Grab dinner at one of our awesome food trucks….and hang out with your family and enjoy a beautiful fall night with your Tomahawk family!

Also, take note of this date change. On THURSDAY, October 18 at 6 pm, we are holding our school improvement meeting in the media center. Our guest speaker will not be able to attend but our HES staff will still be presenting important information about Responsibility Centered Discipline and how it may be able to work for you at home!

So many great things happening here…..I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Love. Learn. Lead.

Ms. Dalton

Make-up Days from Hurricane Florence

The student make-up day for Sept. 14 will be a half-day for students Monday, Oct. 22, listed as a professional day on the calendar. After students leave, professional development will begin. Dismissal is at 10:30am for half days of school. State law only allows three half days so Jan. 11 will become a full day so we can use Oct. 22 as a half day.

The student make-up day for Sept. 17 will be a full day Jan. 14, listed now as half workday for teachers. The other option was to use Wednesday, Nov. 21 – the day before Thanksgiving break as the make-up day. We wanted to avoid using that day, if possible. Using Jan. 14 will keep Feb. 18 and March 11 as possible make-up days and reduce the chances of our needing to do make-up during spring break.

State law requires us to make up three days before our board can waive up to three make-up days. After those three days, the State Board of Education may be petitioned to waive making up additional days missed.

Flu Shot Clinic

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) will be at the school to provide students with Flu Shots. Date is to be determined.
