Mrs. Dudla’s fourth-grade class recently wrapped up their swim lessons with a splashy finale at the Indian Land YMCA: friendly water games, cooperative challenges, and plenty of cheering each other on. From mastering floating and kicking to enjoying fun competitions, the experience celebrated their growth in confidence, resilience, and teamwork. Congrats to the team for diving in and finishing strong!
Mrs Porter comes to Harrisburg with a wealth of knowledge and a love for children. Although this is her first time working with our exceptional learners, she has shown an amazing ability to adapt, modify, and learn about what helps each child ! She is pleasant, intuitive and a friend to all. She sends her daughter to class each day by telling her be sweet and be kind. That is the exact motto that Mrs. Porter lives by every day! We are so thankful to have Mrs Porter on our team!!
Tip of the Week from Mrs. Porter: Share a smile and a kind word with everyone!! Kindness is contagious and you never know how much a smile can brighten someone's day! Mrs. Loncar’s first grade class are “batty” about Bats! We have gathered facts through books and videos. We labeled important body parts of a bat. We also had fun finding the 24 hidden bats around the room that had sight words on them to record. We are bat experts!

Tip of the Week from Mrs. Jenkins: Read together everyday!
One of the best ways to support your child’s learning at home is by reading together each day! Even just 10 minutes makes a big difference.
Here are a few simple ways to make reading time meaningful:
📚Let your child choose the book — it gives them ownership and excitement!
❓Talk about the story — ask questions like, “What do you think will happen next?”
🧝♀️Use expression and fun voices — this keeps kids engaged and makes reading feel magical!
🎉Celebrate effort — encourage them to sound out tricky words and praise their progress.
🏆Make it special time — snuggle up, turn off distractions, and enjoy the moment together.
Reading with your child not only builds strong literacy skills — it strengthens your relationship and helps your child feel loved, confident, and capable!
Lancaster County School District will be testing the employee Centegix Crisis Alert Badge system next week. The tests are scheduled to be held before/after school hours, but we do realize there may be students in the building. When the badges are tested, there will be extra lighting sensors. Emergency Services (911) are aware of the testing schedule, but they may dispatch resulting in emergency personnel/vehicles may be present at school drop off/dismissal. We do not want you to be alarmed. The schedule can be found below.

In preparation for our Module 3 test we are reviewing Text and Graphic Features! To help them study, students made a brochure filling in information about their own lives. They created examples of headings, subheadings, timelines, bulleted lists, illustrations, and captions!
Tip of the Week from Ms. Wilson: Make sure to practice your Math fluency facts!
Whether it's addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, practicing your Math facts will help your students grow exponentially! Try to practice math facts for at least 10-15 minutes daily!

We love Mr. Voltz at HES! He is one of the most predictably friendly, consistently laid-back, and always willing to help in WHATEVER way you ask people in the building. It has been an absolute joy to watch him develop into a confident teacher over the past few years with us and we are so grateful to have him on this team. From watching him lead the music students yesterday in the fall festival to knowing he is always there with a friendly smile and hello...our staff adores his spirit and his presence in our building! The kids enjoy when he comes to Technology class and his team may not admit it out loud, but they agree that he is a difference maker in our building!
